Halloween Cocktails

We are more than a week into October and it is definitely feeling like the spooky season. The days are getting shorter and the weather is cooling down. I've loved seeing all the pumpkins and Halloween decorations spring up around my town! In the spirit of Halloween, I'm sharing a few easy ways to add a Halloween inspired twist to some of my favorite drinks.

Vampire Mimosa: Creating a vampire mimosa requires a simple swap of cranberry juice for orange juice. You could easily use any deep red juice, cranberry is just my favorite. I also like to add some pomegranate seeds for some added texture.

Poison Apple Sangria: Another treat this season give us is really delicious apples and apple cider. I love using these apple flavors to make a fall-inspired sangria. To add something really magical add in some gold luster dust, which will add a little sparkle to your drink. Luster dust can be found at most craft stores in the cake decorating section.

1 bottle wine (I like a red Moscato)

1 cup of apple cider

1/2 cup of cinnamon brandy

1 apple cubed

1 pear cubed

1/2 cup of pomegranate seeds

8 cinnamon sticks

2 teaspoons of luster dust

Mix everything in a pitcher and let chill for several hours. When you're ready to serve give it a stir with a wooden spoon to get that luster dust swirling again.

Blackberry Witch's Brew: While I love a festive drink, I'm not super into a lot of food coloring (I like to avoid staining my mouth), so I especially love that the color in this drink comes from the blackberries.

1 oz Mint Simple Syrup*

1/4 cup blackberries

2oz Vodka

3oz Soda water

Muddle the blackberries and simple syrup to help the blackberries to release their juices. Add the vodka stir and ice. Top with 3 oz of soda water. If you're feeling fancy you can garnish with a mint leaf (and maybe add some dry ice!).

*You can either purchase mint simple syrup at your local liquor store or you can make your own using this recipe.
