Wedding photography is often one of the biggest chunks of your budget and rightly so! Photos from your wedding are one of the only things from your wedding that you’ll have forever. In a day that can pass by in a blur, there’s something special about having photos to help you remember all the special moments from your wedding day.
Colorado is home to lots of wedding photographers. We are so lucky to have so many talented photographers with a wide range of diverse styles. There is no one right way to do wedding photography! I think it is important to expose yourself to a wide array of photographers and styles, so you can find the photographer that is best for you.
Today I’m excited to be spotlighting some of my favorite local wedding photographers.
Kari Geha Photography
I love Kari’s ability to capture moments like they are stills from a movie. Her photos transport you to a couple’s wedding day with vivid and crisp images.
How would you describe your wedding photography style? I would describe my photography style as cinematic and true to life! I love capturing the feelings and emotions of that day, through my photos. I want my galleries to show exactly how that day felt to the couple!
What are your favorite photos to shoot on the wedding day? I LOVE first looks because it gives the couple a private moment to see each other and enjoy that moment before they share it with all of their friends and families. I'm also a sucker for detail shots!
If you could give one piece of advice to a couple about selecting and working with a photographer on their wedding day what would you say? I would say that you make sure that you see a full gallery or two from a photographer, to make sure their style for the full day is what you are looking for. I also highly recommend meeting them and making sure you get along with them and enjoy being around them! You will be with them all day, after all! :)
Catherine Lea Photography
Catherine has a knack for capturing beautiful intimate moments set in the grandeur of Colorado’s landscape. I love the way her photos highlight the sweet relationship between the couple.
How would you describe your wedding photography style? My style in one word would be authentic, and my approach is photo-journalistic. I strive to tell the story of your wedding through events as they occur naturally. It's obvious when a moment is contrived, and that is what I've worked hard to avoid.
What are your favorite photos to shoot on a wedding day? Bride and Groom portraits are the best! I love it when my couples get the rare few moments to be alone and just enjoy each other.
If you could give one piece of advice to a couple about selecting and working with a photographer on their wedding day what would you say? Choose someone you click with, and won't mind spending the most time with on your wedding day. After experiencing my own wedding I realized just how important it is to feel comfortable with who you choose because they are such a big part of your experience! I loved my photographer and was so thankful I chose someone who I could be honest with like a friend.
Sydney's photos have a warm glow that just feels magical. And those black and white photos are to die for!
How would you describe your wedding photography style? Crisp. Timeless. Fun.
What are your favorite photos to shoot on a wedding day? I love sunset photos. Couples are more relaxed by this time and I have that extra bit of time to play with just the two of them.
If you could give one piece of advice to a couple about selecting and working with a photographer on their wedding day what would you say? Splurge on the photos you want to have... you can't hang your food or music on the walls...
Thank you so much to Kari, Catherine, and Sydney! There was too much photography goodness to share in one post, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for part 2 coming up next month!
